COSH Function

The COSH function in Excel returns the hyperbolic cosine of a number. Hyperbolic functions, like COSH, often appear in mathematical analyses of certain phenomena in the natural and engineering sciences.

Syntax:

COSH(number)
  • number: The value for which you want the hyperbolic cosine.

Examples:

  1. =COSH(0) would return 1, since the hyperbolic cosine of 0 is 1.
  2. =COSH(1) returns a value approximately equal to 1.54308.

Note: Hyperbolic trigonometric functions like COSH are related to, but distinct from, their circular counterparts (like COS). They have various applications in mathematics, physics, and engineering, especially in contexts like the study of hyperbolic geometry or in representing certain types of waveforms.
